Here is Andrew with Grandpa Riley. Andrew loves the outdoors, and Grandpa Riley was always able to take him outside and put him to sleep!
Tucker came along also, and I'm pretty sure he had an amazing time! He got to see his dog cousins Callie and Lala and his best doggy friend in the world, Bailey. He ran laps around their amazing yard, chased turkeys and cats, and got lots of attention from different people. He was so tired on the way home that he curled up on his seat in the car and stuck his head between the door and the seat. Here are a couple pictures of Tucker - surveying the yard and trying to catch a cicada.
One thing we discovered on the trip was how much Andrew loves to be swaddled. While we have always known this, we have recently had to use it a lot more to combat fussiness. Andrew seems to get very overtired/overstimulated to the point where he can't calm himself down. He'll be crying and yawning and it is obvious that he is tired, but he is unable to settle down or sleep because he is so worked up. We have found that if we swaddle him, it calms him down and he can rest or nap. He took a lot of great naps this weekend, thanks in part to the amazing SwaddleMe blankets and lots of rocking with Grandma and Grandpa! We also discovered that he napped really well on the couch propped up between the edge and some pillows. As a worried first-time mom I checked his breathing about every 4 seconds, but he was content and slept great!
Here is Grandma Riley with Andrew all swaddled and ready to nap!
Andrew sleeping like an angel!
We came home on Sunday which was Father's Day. Andrew was dressed for the occasion! Unfortunately Jonathan had to work that evening. Luckily, we were able to see some smiles before he went to work! I would love to tell you that he smiled as he was lovily gazing at his mom and dad - nope! He was smiling and cooing at the fan! He is obsessed with the fan. Sometimes when he is upset I can set him on the couch or floor below the fan and he will calm down almost immediately. I wish I had that affect on him! We all think his obsession with the fan means that he is destined to be an engineer when he grows up!
