First Birthday Party!

Everyone knows that the first birthday party is really all about the parents. The one year old will have absolutely no recollection of the event and would be just as content without a party. However we, like most parents, felt like it was important event to celebrate his first year with family and friends.

After scouring internet sites, I decided on a nautical theme. We ordered invitations from Etsy, and my mom helped me craft some of the decorations. Here are some of the details from the day...






We had a wonderful time with friends and family - both sets of Grandparents were there (including Grandma Debbie who flew in from El Paso the morning of the party), Uncle Nick and Aunt Jessy and Bronc, Uncle Shawn, Lisa and Matthew, Jenifer, Kara and Sloan, Sandra and Mark, Sarah, and Sonia. We grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, opened presents (with lots of help from Matthew), and ate cupcakes. Andrew didn't so much eat his as smear it all over his face and body. Even after the bath he still had icing in various crevices. Overall it was a wonderful party; we and Andrew are so blessed that so many came out to help him celebrate!
