Things Andrew Says, Vol. 2

Our little Parrot is turning into a full-blown Chatty Cathy (er... Chatty Chris?). He is talking so much lately, saying words that I didn't even know he knew! He's also starting to put together two-word phrases, which is so exciting! As with last time, I thought it would be easier to just list the words and phrases he says, sort of like a little Andrew Dictionary.

• tra-to - tractor or any sort of construction equipment - He loves to watch these!
• bit-it - biscuit - Apparently we spoiled him with breakfasts out during the past month or two. Now every weekend morning when I ask him what he wants for breakfast he says bit-it.
• milt or moat - milk
• pane - plane - He has great hearing and can hear the sound of a plane when we are inside doing something. He also will point to the planes and say "daddy?". This is from when Daddy occasionally flies over in the APD helicopter and we point and say "look, it's Daddy!" Now he thinks that Daddy is in every flying machine!
• di-duh-dos - dinosaurs - We try to encourage him to say things correctly by repeating them the correct way, but this one is just so fun to say that we say it often also!
• by - fly
• gry - french fry
• momote or momo - remote
• Mouse? - Micky Mouse Clubhouse
• Dee-os - Cheerios
• High-bye - high five
• Toots? - This one is self-explanatory and usually followed by "Oh, gross!" While it's pretty hilarious to hear this sequence of events, I have a feeling this is going to come back and haunt us in public one day...
• Mac-mo-may - Macaroni
• Lay-lo-lay - Chick-fil-a - Do we need any more proof that Andrew is a little clone of Jonathan? Now whenever we tell Andrew we are going to go get food for dinner or lunch, he'll run to the door and say Lay-lo-lay. He's pretty insistent and gets pretty upset when we don't go there. Hmm... this is also true for Jonathan!
• Ice-ice - Outside
• Doos - shoes - this also means outside. He'll say "doos" and then force you to take him outside!
• Ay-do - Andrew
• A-tl-sos - Applesauce - We finally tricked him into eating veggies! A mom that I talked to at a birthday party suggested those baby food packets with the mixtures of fruits and veggies. He just thinks that they are applesauce and will guzzle them down! Finally we are getting some veggies in that boy!
• glass-ass - glasses
• high-jer - high chair
• hot? - He says this to everything! Everything in our house is hot - the dogs, food, furniture, people. He thinks it is pretty hilarious to point to everything and say hot!
• Lay nown! - Lay down! - Let me tell you, it is humbling to hear yourself through your child. Apparently this is all we ever say to poor Tucker! We noticed that Andrew was always yelling at Tucker to lay down. We have really tried to make an effort to say nice things to Tucker. On one hand, I understand the reasoning behind us telling him to lay down - the best way to describe Tucker is obnoxiously affectionate... but I want Andrew to play with him and love him and understand that he really is a great dog. (Even when he's sitting in your lap and licking your face.)
• Oh-ty-doh-ty - Okey dokey!

Andrew has also gotten into a phase where he adds a syllable to words - he seems to prefer that words have three syllables. Some examples:

• Hel-luh-lo - Hello!
• Bye-buh-bye - Bye-bye!
• Bay-buh-bay - Bailey
• Dad-duh-dy - Daddy
• Mamina - Mommy - not sure where he got this, but it's a cute little nickname!

It is so wonderful to have Andrew talking all the time! He says so many things that I'm sure I have forgotten many of them. He still babbles frequently and will often sing songs to the tune of real songs but with his own babble lyrics. He can (kind of) sing the ABCs! He will get the first few letters and then shout out sounds for the rest of the song. He also has started counting (again, kind of)! I was blown away the first time he did this. If we start him off, he can get two (do), three (be), he skips four, five (fine), six (dis), seven and eight are a bit spotty, nine, and I may have heard him say ten once! I know every parent is convinced that their child is a genius, but I'm so proud of everything he says and does!

This first video is our little ham talking to himself - we were trying to get a video of him talking and the only way he would do it was if he could watch himself. This shows some of his hand gestures, babble language, and how he says Andrew. At one point he also says "Miles". I think he thought he was talking to his friend Miles (we had just given him a gift that Miles had given him for his birthday). He also practices some of his cute faces and tries to kiss himself on the screen! 

This next video is of him saying "Oh gross!" He's so expressive when he thinks something is gross!
